I was making meatball sliders to bring to a potluck last weekend. It would have been easy to grab a jar of sauce, but I didn’t have time to run to the store. I tossed this together in the crock pot before cooking the meatballs. This sauce is tasty and easy to make – perfect for a weeknight dinner.
Semi-Homemade Slow Cooker Tomato Sauce
Prefect for a weeknight dinner, this sauce is done in 20 minutes.
Servings: 3 cups
Equipment
Ingredients
- 1 28 oz can tomato puree
- 2 packets Good Seasons Italian dressing mix
- 3 tbsp dried minced onion
- ½ tsp pepper
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a slow cooker.
- Cook on high for 20 minutes, or low for at least 1 hour.
Notes
You can also simmer this on the stovetop instead for 20 minutes. I use the slow cooker because I usually add meatballs (see meatball sub sliders), so it’s easy to just add the meatballs right into the sauce for cooking.
