I think it’s no secret that I love short ribs, and I guess it’s no coincidence that braising is one of my favorite cooking methods since that’s how short ribs are traditionally cooked. If you want to learn more about beef ribs, including short ribs, AmazingRibs.com and Lake Geneva Country Meats have good information.
The first short rib recipe I ever made was braised short rib risotto. After that, I branched out into a few that were more unique, like the red wine braised short rib pot pie. All of my short rib recipes I’ve made so far use red wine braised short ribs as the base. Maybe I can be a creature of habit, but I wanted to expand my short rib cooking methods. I embarked on a search for different ways to cook the short ribs than my traditional red wine method, and the results were impressive.
These recipes have a variety of cooking methods, including slow cooker and Instant Pot. The recipes also range from easy/beginner to advanced. Several of the recipes are gluten-free, and most are dairy-free (when dairy is introduced, it’s usually in the side dishes). If you are a short rib newbie, I highly recommend the crockpot beef short ribs from Erhardts Eat. It’s a very straightforward recipe to make and a good intro to cooking short ribs.
